Scope and Content

Papers of a joint working party of the RCOG, the Royal College of Midwives, the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health to review the original Towards Safer Childbirth report of 1999.

Administrative / Biographical History

Following on from two previous reports 'Towards Safer Childbirth' between the RCOG and the Royal College of Midwives in 1994 and 1999, this third working party incorporated membership from the Royal Colleges of Anaesthetists, and Paediatrics and Child Health. The group reviewed the topic following changes in the National Health Service and concern over staffing levels and multiprofessional working.
