A statistical account of the Barony Parish of Glasgow with the principal transactions of the Heritors for the last forty years. By James Hopkirk. 1827.
James Hopkirk of Dalbeth (1749-1836) a wealthy Glasgow merchant, wrote A Statistical Account of the Barony Parish of Glasgow when he was in his 76th year. He explained in the text that he had lived in the Barony Parish of Glasgow for more than 70 years and it was his intention to provide an account of the changes that had taken place over 40 years. It is not known whether Hopkirk intended to publish the manuscript which contains an important collection of ink drawings of Glasgow buildings by an unidentified artist. Some are the only known views. There also are some prints and plans.
