Copy letter book of Patrick Colquhoun. Introduction describes it as '...containing copy in his autograph of about 410 letters addressed by him to various persons, many of whom were public men of note, chiefly on matters of great interest and national importance, including the American debts and commerce, the Tobacco Law, British Manufacture, certain Scotch canals and other public works, the discovery of the method of ascertaining the longitude at sea etc, from 15 Sep 1785 to 14 June 1787.' Some letters are very brief. Many are concerned with business matters, including disputes, presumably with regard to Colquhoun's role in the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.
