Letters to William Mathieson, Esq., from James Ewing, Esquire, of Strathleven during a tour on the Continent in 1844-45. [Glasgow, 1844-1845.]
Detailed description of journeys and places visited, with his wife, in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Includes mention of Scottish friends met en route.
10 long letters, dated 5th October 1844 to 10th June 1845.
A transcript of the series, probably made by or for Mathieson, c.1845.

The origin of this copy is not recorded. However a postscript to the first letter reads: I have no time to write anybody but yourself - indeed scarcely any to read over this scrawl. Be so good as to show it to my brother, and let one copy be sent to Mrs Hyde and another to Cameron, who I am glad to observe has returned with Mrs Crawford, to whom Mrs E. has written a journal of our progress. [p. 3]
