Scope and Content

Contains photographs and press cuttings of lacrosse fixtures featuring Lynne Bailey as a player, assorted memorabilia from the 1969 British Pioneers Lacrosse Tour, and photographs of social gatherings from the [1979] US Women's Lacrosse Tour and members of the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations in [1993].

Administrative / Biographical History

Lynne Spackman nee Bailey was born circa 1946 and educated at Howell's School, Llandaff and at Bedford College of Physical Education (1964-1967).

In 1964, at the age of nineteen, she was selected to play lacrosse for Wales and continued to play until 1971. She also played lacrosse for the Midlands and East territorial teams for the 1966-67 and 1968-69 seasons respectively. In 1969 she was a member of the British Pioneers Tour to coach and play lacrosse around the world in an effort to promote an interest in the game.

Acquisition Information

The papers were gifted to the University of Bedfordshire by Lynne Spackman in two separate accessions in 2014 and 2015, under Accession Nos. AWL2014/002 and AWL2015/006 respectively.
