Requests that Mr Thos. Meyrick refers to his letters and he will find that only "hereditary armorial bearings" are entitled to be considered heraldic. The putting marks or ornaments on sheilds is probably of the highest antiquity. Believes that the "ancient pedigree" at Bodorgan is not older than 17th century having been drawn up for William Meiric of Bodorgan Esq. Surnames were not known in Wales before the time of Henry VIII. The name Meyrick signifying "guardian" was introduced by the son of Llewelyn d. 1538. Einion Sais was the first to acquire Bodorgan. Nothing in the way of heraldry can be found older than the time of Ed. IV. Lewys Dwn omits the 6th coat of arms. Sir Gelly suffered an ignominous death - hanged at Tyburne
