Methodist preachers appear to have been present in the area since at least 1771, and the first Wesleyans meeting house was established in Chapel Lane in the 1790s. The chapel was rebuilt in 1827, and rebuilt again in 1873. The Primitive Methodists they were holding regular services by 1840. In the 1860s they were attending the chapel at New Yatt in Hailey parish.In 1880 a Primitive Methodist chapel was built at East End but this closed soon after the Methodist Union in 1932. In 1986 the chapel was in private use.
