The society first met and worshipped in a thatched cottage until 1843 when property for the chapel was purchased costing £392,18s,6d and the chapel was built in 1843. In 1870 a chapel was built in Corn street in front of the old chapel which then became a schoolroom. In 1956 the chapel was sold presumably to the Swan laundry and another chapel was built in Davenport Road, which cost £12,000.
