Scope and Content

11 volumes owned by Marjorie Vale. Includes lecture notes from general nurse training at York City General Hospital, on subjects such as hospital etiquette, domestic ward management, bedmaking, bathing patients, and basic first aid. Lecture notes from midwifery training at St Luke's Hospital Bradford include lectures on 'gas and air', physiology and signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Includes records of cases attended as a pupil midwife in Bradford, Welling and Bexleyheath, and a register of cases attended as a qualified midwife (from Chesterfield, Welling, Bexleyheath, Redcar and the South Bank area) detailing births and pre- and anti-natal care for patients. Also includes an 'analgesia case book' detailing accounts of births assisted by anaesthetic and the reaction of the drugs by both patient and midwife.
