Typed notes by W.R. Brock, regarding the papers of Andrew Monteith (1786-1878) papers 1852-78. (Photostats (in private hands) Papers are held by Wisconsin State historical society. Brock only has the following to say about the papers;
Papers of a Scottish immigrant in Wisconsin, including certificates of good standing from his church in Scotland and letters from his sons, 3 of whom served in Company H., 7thWisconsin Volunteers in Virginia in the civil War; a fourth describes a journey across Panama to the California gold fields.
