Discusses his visit to Paris, praising the Museum of Natural History as "the finest sight in all Paris in my estimation". Mentions recent visits to Birmingham and London where he gave evidence before a committee of the House of Commons on an oil gas bill. Describes weather in Manchester, including an abnormal thunderstorm. Would like to have a sample of air from Mount [sic.] Blanc, and explains how this should be collected.
