Loose material from Phoebe Hesketh, Prayer for sun (London: Hart-Davis, 1966), consisting of a letter to Nicholson from Hesketh, relating to: her enjoyment of Nicholson's part in the recent [BBC television] programme Meeting point, on the subject of life and death; plans she has been making with Helen Wickham (wife of the Bishop of Middleton) for readings and discussion on the same subject at Manchester Cathedral; her hope of quoting Nicholson on death and how illness has affected his work, asking in particular if he has a copy of [his verse drama] Birth by drowning from which she might choose something. She also refers to a previous meeting with Nicholson and his wife at a reading, and notes that she is sending a copy of her latest volume of poems.
Dated at Rivington, Lancashire; holograph. Inserted inside front cover.
