Loose material from Geoffrey Hill, Poems, Fantasy poets series, No. 11 (Oxford: Oxford University Poetry Society, 1952), consisting of a letter to Nicholson from Hill, relating to: the two years which have elapsed since he last wrote to Nicholson about poetry, during which time he has not produced much writing; a pamphlet of poems which he has now produced and is enclosing for Nicholson, and on which he comments briefly - noting that they were rejected by New Soundings before being published as a pamphlet. He remarks that he still has with him the letters Nicholson wrote to him when he was at school, and values the kindly advice he received.
