Letter from RD to his mother, relating to: his present holiday in Cornwall, where he is staying with his friend Walter Greenwood, author of The cure for love, which RD played in at the Westminster Theatre [in 1945]; the reasons behind the failure of his Aldwych Theatre venture [as actor-manager], with Much ado [about nothing]; the second play he undertook [Peter Ustinov's The man behind the statue], which proved a flop in [its pre-London production at] Manchester, and which is being drastically revised; his search for good British film work to improve his finances; news of Joanna, now at Cranborne Chase School, and the boys, who are at Port Regis Prep School; a trip with the children to see Danny Kaye in The kid from Brooklyn; and some matters concerning Rose Donat in relation to the estate of RD's aunt.
