Scope and Content

Letter from RD to his parents, with a separate two-page note to RD's mother from Ella. RD reflects on 1931, his first year in London, and also refers to: the support he has received from Ella and Joanna; his recent success in moving straight from one play to another and firmly establishing his name; the publicity he has received in the press; his parents' work and the issue of remuneration, which he advises them to discuss with their employers; and his plans for a family holiday. Ella's note relates to: a photograph she is sending (not included); Joanna's development and activities; and RD's hard work in [Allan Monkhouse's] Mary Broome [at the Embassy Theatre, London].
