i. 18 October 1839 - Glasgow - Arrival of Ceylon box. Translation of Schimper's paper, payments to Steudal, Hochstatter, Gardner's Brazilian plants, Matthews's Andes (plants), news of Drège's plants.

ii. 30 October 1839 - Glasgow - Gardner's plants.

iii. 5 November 1839 - Glasgow - Gardner's plants. Mr. Khull (sic) and the Botanical Journal.

iv. 2 January 1840 - Glasgow - Khul's (sic) publications, disposal of some of his plants-three very large chests of mosses. Mentions "The Unio Itinerarium."

xxxviii. 9 July 1853 - Kew - Dr. Bromfield's work. Hopes that Dr. Bell Salter will not make his account of Rubi overlong.

xxxix. 16 August 1853 - Kew - Lithographic stones of the 100 Ferns and needful proofs. Enquires if Dr. Bromfield's family would desire his book to be dedicated to Prince Albert - willing to ask for his permission.

xl. 1853 - Kew - Re. Osbourne and dedication of the Flors of the Isle of Wight. "The Prince is very happy to accept the dedication." Century of Ferns Tab. 901 and 902 and proofs to Mr. Fitch.

lx. 25 November 1853 - London - (Letter from W.P.) On purchase of books of the defunct Royal Medico-Botanical Society. Sends some sheets of a work on Vegetable Materia Medica of the United States. The whole volume of the Icones and the plain copies of the Century ready Jan. 1st. Proposals re. coloured copies. Index for Icones and Century. Refers to portraits.

lxi. 14 December 1853 - Kew - Does not want Dr. Welwitsch's Portuguese plants. Will take Mr. Ralph's New Zealand plants to encourage him. More on New Zealand flora. Encloses title of the Century of Ferns and discusses index of vol. X Icones very soon.

lxii. 6 January 1854 - Kew - Colouring of plates.

lxiii. 11 January 1854 - Enquiries about Humboldt & Kunth Synopsis ... as present for one of our able gardeners going as a collector to Venezuela, New Granada, etc. Final forty plates of Century of Ferns are finished. "Has Tab. XLIII been sent to me ... for colouring." (Part of letter missing.).

lxiv. 13 January 1854 - Kew - Humboldt's Synopsis. Plates of the Ferns. "The wrapper is very neat ... sufficient to announce the "Century" as a selection from the Icones.

lxv. 22 February 1854 - Kew - Problems with the Century.

lxxiv. 2 September 1857 - Kew - Has sadly neglected Gen. & Spec. Fil. of late. Speaks of a Flora of the B.W. Ind. Islands. Dr. Grisebach.

lxxv. 8 November 1857 - Kew - Proofs of plates for Gen. & Spec. Filicum. Deficient no.s. of Linnaea and No. 16 of Phycologist; New Series.

lxxvi. 6 February 1858 - Kew - Proofs and printer (Taylor) and booker orders.

lxxvii. 5 April 1858 - Kew - Taylor and printing, index to be provided by W.P. Determining of species - Wildenow, Swartz, Fée, I .Smith, T. Moore. Mr. Croall's fasciculi of dried plants of Braemar and difficulty of getting payments for these.

lxxviii. 12 May 1858 - Kew - Title page and table contents (Sp. Fil?). Thanks for information about copies of Schkur. "I wish Moore's little book would come out faster. It would save me a world of troubles, etc."

lxxix. 20 January 1860 - Kew - Species Filicum plates: Tab. CLXI-CLXXX and Cent. I-XXV (or XXVI). May be printed. Circumstances of fire in matter of Messrs Merritt & Hatcher. Complains dilitariness of Taylor, printer.

lxxx. 15 March 1863 - Kew - Pts. 15 and 16 Species Filicum, and receipt of £60. Wants to commence printing of 4th and last vol. Mr. Taylor's delays. Enquiries about set of Moritz's Columbian Ferns on behalf of Mr. Rawson.
