E.T. Craig, 1804-1894, was born in Manchester and rose to play a prominent part in the co-operative movement before he was 30 years of age. Craig's name is closely associated with the community at Ralahine, Ireland (1831-1833) but he was a man of many other interests. He was the promoter of a 'Utility' Society formed in Manchester around 1825 and was also the editor of the Lancashire co-operator in 1831 and later in his life became interested in Phrenology and was public health engineer.
