Drawings and paintings by and connected with D.H. Lawrence, c.1906-1985

Scope and Content

The group comprises a small number of artistic works by D.H. Lawrence, principally paintings, together with several works of art in which Lawrence is the subject or which in other ways relate to the writer and to associated people and places. These include paintings, cartoons, linocuts and cartographic drawings.

Administrative / Biographical History

This is an artificial group of artistic works by and relating to D.H. Lawrence. The items in this group have been brought together by the curators because of their common material type. Artistic material which naturally belongs within a larger archive group has not been moved to join the La D group, but can be found in its appropriate context (see e.g. within La Z).

Arrangement

The items are arranged into the two groups; drawings and paintings by D.H. Lawrence, and drawings and paintings relating to D.H. Lawrence.

Access Information
