Scope and Content

The Annesley family first began to

purchase property at Bletchington in

1664, when Arthur (I), Earl of Anglesey

bought the Manor House of Bletchingdon

(later known as Bletchingdon Park). Over

the next 250 years, the family bought

much of the property in the village.

This section contains papers concerning

these properties before they were

purchased by the Annesleys. 1D-10D

concern properties which were once

part of Bletchingdon Manor; the

other properties have no explicit

link with them. E6/6 below contains

papers concerning property at

Bletchingdon and elsewhere in

Oxfordshire under Annesley possession.
