Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Arbeitskreis 1961 was a loose association of London-based Germans – Jewish refugees and gentile exiles - from the fields of religion, politics and education. In reaction to a wave of antisemitic incidents in West Germany it had been founded in 1961 on the initiative of Alfred Wiener, who also served as chairman. Its goal was to promote adult education about the Nazi past among young Germans living London.
