An imperfect copy of Rhys Jones, Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru (Amwythig, 1773),

The volume seems to have belonged at one time to John Jones, Gweirglawdd Gilfach, Llanuwchllyn (i.e. 'Tudur Llwyd'), and the name Thomas Jones, Gweirglawdd Gilfach, also occurs. There are numerous manuscript entries in the margins, including 'englynion', etc., by John Jones, 'Tudur Llwyd', sometimes known as 'Tudur Penllyn', and by Morris Jones, 'Meurig Idris'. Six small notebooks sewn together, containing entries by John Peter, Millwright, Bala, c. 1822-39, with one or two bills of later date. The entries include accounts, measurements and 'Testyne Cyfarfod y Bala 21 Medi 1830.'. An arithmetic exercise-book bearing the name 'John Jones. Millwright, Bala. 6th March 1823'. With the exercise-book are some grammatical notes in German, 1856, probably in the autograph of John Peter, 'Ioan Pedr', with a copy of a letter in German, 14 Feb. (1856), from John (?Peter) to a correspondent addressed as 'Peter', in which the writer states that he has been in Germany fourteen days: he has gone there to acquire speedy facility in German to enable him to pursue his studies in German Theology. There is also a letter, 12 Jan. 1872, from John Craven, Llantysilio, Llangollen, to 'Mr Peters' concerning the mill at the Rhiewl (sic). Mer., Feb. 1846-Feb. 1847. A notebook containing diagrams of sheep earmarks used on farms mainly in the parishes of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, Llangwm, and Llansannan, co. Denb., and Betws Gwerful Goch, co. Mer. The notebook bears the name of Robert Williams, Nant-y-geuryd (Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr). The account-book of a shoemaker in the Corwen district, 1894-1903. A collection of Merioneth place-names with their meanings, submitted by D. J. Williams under the nom-de-plume 'Hen Lanc Llan y Mynydd' in the competition at the Corwen National Eisteddfod, 1919, for 'Y Casgliad Goreu o enwau lleoedd (anghyfenedig) yn Sir Feirionydd: Eu tarddiad, eu hanes a'i (sic) hystyr.' The adjudicator was the Rev. D. D. Williams, Liverpool. In three covers. Letters, 1919, containing material relating to Merioneth place-names. The letters are not all addressed to D. J. Williams, but the correspondents include Ed. Griffith, Harlech, R. W(illiams) Parry, Roath, Cardiff, J(ohn) Pugh, Blaenlliw, Llanuwchllyn, R. W. Roberts, Liverpool, R. Wynne Thomas, Llanelltyd, and (Sir) Ifor Williams, Menai Bridge. There are also two lists of place-names in the Cwmtirmynach area by 'Margretta' and 'Mynach Fychan', written probably for a local Eisteddfod, and two notebooks containing notes by D. J. Williams on Welsh place-names in general. The manuscript of a reading book teaching the principles of the League of Nations (Llyfr Darllen yn Dysgu Egwyddorion Cynghrair y Cenhedloedd) by 'Y Ddeilen Werdd' (D. J. Williams). (pp. 41-56 are wanting.) This was one of the competitions at the Pwllheli National Eisteddfod, 1925, and D. J. Williams and another shared the prize (see Certificate). 'Llawlyfr Cymraeg ar y Gelfyddyd o Addysgu yn yr Ysgol Sul' by 'Strabo' (D. J. Williams) submitted for competition at the Mold National Eisteddfod, 1923. (Adjudicator: Prof. J. Morgan Jones, MA, Bangor.). Incomplete. An essay on 'Yr Afon Ddyfi a'i Haberoedd' by 'Y Blewyn Glas', submitted for competition at the Aberdyfi Chair Eisteddfod, 7 Nov. 1923. (Adjudicator: J. Breese Davies, Dinas Mawddwy.) (Not in the autograph of D. J. Williams, but see the exercise-book containing adjudications.). An exercise-book containing holograph adjudications by Prof. Hugh Williams, Bala, 1909, Owen M. Edwards, Llanuwchllyn, 1910, and John Lloyd, Dolgellau, 1925, with copies and press-cuttings of various other literary adjudications. D. J. Williams appears to have been a competitor in each case. A notebook containing a list of Welsh agricultural terms ('Termau Amaeth'). With the notebook is a corrected proof of the last page of a word-list by D. J. Williams entitled 'Rhai o Eiriau Amaethwyr Penllyn', printed in The Bulletin of the Board of Celtic Studies, Vol. III, pp. 198-209. Notebooks containing material incorporated in Cyfres Athrawon Meirion, Rhif 3. Beirdd Meirion: detholiad o'u gwaith ar gyfair plant ysgol, gyda rhagymadrodd gan R. Williams Parry, MA. (1932, Cyhoeddwyd gan Adran Meirion o Undeb Cenedlaethol yr Athrawon), and the manuscript of the published work in the autograph of D. J. Williams (incomplete). The manuscript and a draft of 'Bro'r Eisteddfod', the introductory essay written by D. J. Williams for the Arts and Crafts Handbook (Llawlyfr Celf a Chrefft) of the Dolgelley National Eisteddfod, 1949.
