Scope and Content

The manuscript of Cyfres Chwedl a Chân, I-VI, in the autograph of D. J. Williams, with some corrected galley proofs and page proofs, etc. The authors' copies of some of the material used in Cyfres Chwedl a Chân, with a few additional items including Welsh by 'Latimer' (T. Hughes Jones, Newtown), awarded the prize at the Pontypool National Eisteddfod, 1924 (typescript). Some illustrations have been transferred to the Department of Pictures and Maps. A folder containing a few letters to D. J. Williams, 1933-7, relating to Cyfres Chwedl a Chân, and also one or two stories for children, including 'Yr Oen Llywaeth' (and 'Y Mochyn Bach') by Kate Roberts, 'Afalau'r Dderwen' by (Laura J. Thomas) and a copy in autograph of D. J. Williams of 'Y Castell yn y Cwmwl' by Lena (sic) Puw Davies. Letters, 1936-47, to D. J. Gwynn Jones, and 'Nant-yr-Eira' by Iorwerth C. Peate. A letter, 20 April 1857, from Samuel Roberts, Llanbrynmair, to an unnamed correspondent written on a printed sheet headed 'Agerdd i America'. The Rev. Samuel Roberts, Llanbrynmair, and the Rev. David Price, Denbigh, and their companions intend to leave Liverpool aboard the steamship 'Circassian' on 2 May. The writer ('S. R.') is very busy but he will do his best to meet the request of the Corris friends. Welsh. A letter, 9 Aug. 1867, from John Peter, Bala, to Mr J. Parry. He has at last almost finished an article on 'Aur Sir Feirionydd' - the addressee's promise of help. A reference to Mr Griffiths, a preacher. He has written a short guide to the district, and it will be out of the press in a few days. His promise to send a few fossils to an exhibition at the Carmarthen Eisteddfod. Welsh. A letter, 1 Jan. 1898, from L. Jones, Druid House, Ca(e)rnarvon, to Mr Vincent Evans asking him to direct the enclosed to Sir John Puleston. Welsh. The manuscript and an earlier version of 'Cyfres Grisiau'r Ysgol, Y Pedwerydd Gris, Dyddgwaith Iesu Grist gan D. J. Williams, Llanbedr (Cyhoeddir gan Bwyllgor Cydenwadol yr Ysgol Sul)', together with some correspondence relating thereto. Press-cuttings relating to Llanbedr, co. Mer., 31 Dec. 1948-2 Dec. 1949, pasted over a draft of parts of Dyddgwaith Iesu Grist. A story entitled 'y Pedwerydd Gwr Doeth' in the autograph of D. J. Williams, with the beginning of another copy. A typewritten copy of 'Y Cwlwm Cêl' by Elizabeth Watkin-Jones, with corrections in pencil. The last page is wanting. The story was published by Gwasg Aberystwyth in 1947. A radio script of 'Tim' by (Elizabeth Mary Jones), 'Moelona', (afterwards published by Gwasg Aberystwyth, 1947, in the series of 'Llyfrau Darllen Ychwanegol' edited by D. J. Williams), with a letter to (D. J. Williams) from Ivor (Owen), Croesor. Typewritten copies, printer's copies, galley proofs and page proofs of 'Topsi'r Gath Ddu', 'Sali'n Chwilio am Waith', and 'Dina a Chloc y Gwcw', by Elizabeth Watkin-Jones, all three published by Gwasg Aberystwyth, 1944, in the series of 'Llyfrau Darllen Ychwanegol' edited by D. J. Williams. Two notebooks containing a collection of stories for children, in the autograph of D. J. Williams ('Arthur Fawr', 'Dewi Sant', 'Hywel Dda', 'Plant Cymru yn yr Hen Amser', etc.) One, entitled 'Mynd i'r Ysgol Sul', is an extract from O. M. Edwards, Cylch Atgof. Stories (incomplete) including 'Lludd a Llefelys', 'Côr Mawr y Pentre Gwyn' (by 'Anthropos'), and 'Y Llythyr Indiaidd' (translated from 'Settlers in Canada'), etc., in the autograph of D. J. Williams. Miscellaneous papers including 'Caethes Fach o Israel' (typescript), 'Cartrefi Cymru', a broadcast talk for schools by D. J. Williams, 26 Nov. 1943, 'Stori Rolo y Cawr Coch' by Aeres Davies, and letters from Messrs J. D. Lewis & Sons Ltd, Llandyssul, 1947-9, relating to the series Llyfrau Ysgrifennu Cymraeg, etc.
