COPY WILL of Jane Thomas of Manervabon in Llandilofawr parish, widow and relict and executrix of Thomas Thomas, esquire, deceased. Testatrix bequeathed as follows — the lands specified in the deed dated 27 December 1953 (No 1) to Thomas Evans of Aberlash, Llandybie parish, esquire, on trust to pay my funeral expences and to pay my cousin Elizabeth Roult (now living in London) £15 p.a. for her life; and all the said lands to the use of my nephew Herbert Evans of Dole, Cardiganshire, gentleman, son and heir of my brother John Evans, esquire, deceased, for life, remainder to Thomas Thomas eldest son and heir of David Thomas of Cwm in the hamlet of Eskernant, Talley parish, gentleman, for life, reminder to my cousin Thomas Evans of Newton, Laugharne parish, esquire: to my cousin and god daughter Jane Evans daughter of Lewis Evans late of Newton, clerk, deceased, £100. To Martha another daughter of the said Lewis Evans, who is now married to [?] of the town of Laugharn £100. To my cousin Mary Williams daughter of Thomas Williams of Brondawe, gentleman, deceased £100. To my cousin Thomas Williams of Brondawe, gentleman, attorney at law, eldest son and heir of the said Thomas Williams, £100. To Henry Williams of the village of Llanegwad, clerk, £100. To said Thomas Evans, my trustee, all my china, brass, coppers, pewter, iron, tin, earthen, and wooden goods and utensils and furniture, household linnen and woollen bed and bedding (except the furniture in the room over the hall) hereinafter bequeathed to my niece Jane Evans (excepting the furniture of the Hall), the parlour, the room over the kitchen, the room over the parlour and the two Middle garrets I shall hereinafter give to the said Thomas Thomas), all my brewing vessels and household utensils, carts, wains, teams, implements of husbandry belonging to my capital mansion house of Manervabon wherein I now dwell, in trust as to a moiety of same to continue at Manervabon as heirlooms for the said Thomas Thomas or the owner thereof. To my said niece and god - daughter Jane Evans eldest daughter of my said nephew Herbert Evans £400 with my gold watch, seals, pearl necklace, rings, one silver coffee pot and waiter, my two new silver sauceboats, my silver pint mug, furniture of the room above the hall, six pairs of sheets, six pillow cases, six table cloths, 12 damask napkins, when she is 18. To my other niece Elizabeth Evans second daughter of my said nephew Herbert Evans £100 when 18. To Catherine Batchelor of Bath widow, sister by the half blood of my death husband (he having forgotten or omitted her in his will) £100. To the said Thomas Thomas furniture of the parlour, the hall, the room above the kitchen, the room above the parlour, and the two middle garrets, a silver tankard, a silver tumbler, two silver haIf - pint mugs, the old silver sauceboat, six silver table spoons, a silver pepper box, and all the law books. To John Williams of Llether Cadvan, Llangathen parish, gentleman, £100, to be laid out towards the education and maintenance of his son Thomas Williams until settled as clerk or apprentice. To my cousin and god - daughter Jane Herbert, spinster daughter of George Herbert of Cwmyddalfa, Montgomeryshire, clerk, deceased, 2 guineas to buy a mourning ring. To Mrs Evans wife of my said nephew Herbert Evans 20 guineas. To Henry Williams of Llanegwad village £20. To my good friend Thomas Evans of Aberlash, esquire, 50 guineas. To my servants Harry Evan £20, John Thomas David £10, Jane Griffiths £5, Jemima John £5, if in my service at time of my death. To Vicar of Llandilovawr £10 and to vicar of Llanegwad £10, on trust, to apprentice two poor children of those parishes. Residuary legatee and sole executor, my nephew Herbert Evans. To be buried with my husband in the new vault I lately erected for him in our Chappel in the parish church of Llandilofawr, in the forenoon, and not to spend more than £40 towards my funeral expenses.
