Hobhouse (1864-1929), social philosopher and journalist, asking whether [John] Morley, politician and writer, can be prevailed upon [to speak at a meeting in Manchester against the Boer war], enclosing letters from a churchman named Blathwayt, and with reference to a leading article from the Manchester Guardian in June on the Franchise Pledge.
