Letter from G.W.W. Blathwayt to the Rev. Canon Edward Hicks (1843-1919), bishop of Lincoln, sympathising with the views on the Transvaal expressed by Hicks in a sermon at Manchester Cathedral. He believes Britain ought to be able to veto treaties made [by the Transvaal] with foreign states, referring briefly to suzerainty, but expressing the opinion that war is needless and wrong.
