Scope and Content

Hay notes, "EM" not identified, but worked for the Jewish Agency]. Wingate's involvement with the Ein Harod kibbutz, includes account of Wingate's wounding at Dagoriah; incident when two Jewish children were kidnapped at Bat Shlomo, near Zichron , says a Walter Moffat, a British official, wanted to negotiate to get children back, but Wingate was against this. Children were then killed. Moffat was later assassinated by Arabs in August 1938. EM thinks Wingate would have been more successful in negotiations because he would have threatened reprisals. EV also comments on Montgomery who later took charge of 16th Brigade in Palestine, says Montgomery was not in favour of the SNS.
