The English Rose by George R. Sims and Robert W. Buchanan. [This was a long-running piece, first performed at the Adelphi Theatre, London, on 2 August 1890 and running to 238 performances, closing on 2 May 1891. Further productions took place in: Liverpool (Court Theatre, 1890); New York (Proctor's Theatre, 1892); London (Elephant and Castle Theatre, 1898, and Pavilion Theatre, 1899). It was turned into a film in 1920, directed by Fred Paul].
