Minute book for the Denby Dale and Cumberworth Branch Labour Party from January 1967 to February 1976. The minutes record the activities and decisions made by the Party concerning local issues such as the selection of magistrates, dustbin collections, footpaths, playing fields, fund raising, sewage systems and bus services... etc. The minutes also record: the preparations made for canvassing and campaign work during parliamentary and local council elections, and the outcomes of these elections; the election of officers within the branch party itself; and the Party's general business such membership and financial reporting. The minutes also record: the establishment of a Young Socialist Group for the ward; the nominations of local magistrates; the 1969 ward boundary changes; addresses made by local political figures such as David Clark; and donations made by the Party to the South African Aid appeal.
On 29 January 1969 the minutes record the fears of the Party that the on-going fraud investigations in the council might reflect badly on the Party as an extension of the council. On 22 January 1970 the minutes record an address by David Clark who talked about Labour's victory in the election, winning back Colne Valley constituency, the economy, and other social issues. On 22 July 1971 the Party passed a resolution asking for action at ward and urban party level to make the public aware of the intention of the NCB (National Coal Board) to start outcropping in the urban district.
