The Spicer grandparents were Mr and Mrs James Spicer living at Harts, Woodford Green, a large house visited by masses of married sons and daughters and their children. The mother of Louisa Martindale (1873-1966) was the eldest of the 10 Spicer children and Louisa spent many of her holidays at Harts. Harriet would therefore be a cousin of Louisa's.
Harriet sends birthday wishes and a copy of 'Women's Work and Women's Culture' a series of essays edited by Josephine Butler. This book was passed on to 'Lulu' (Louisa's pet name in the family) Jan 1910. No date but not before 1869 date of the book in question.
