Completed in 1979, the purpose-built Lutheran Church is situated on Westwood Hill, East Kilbride. Gillespie, Kidd and Coia received the commission because of their reputation for designing Roman Catholic churches. The design of the church was influenced by the new liturgical orthodoxy of the Second Vatican Council and as such has not undergone the same alterations, such as repositioning of the alter, pulpit and baptismal font, of other churches built before this time. The Church was re-roofed in the 1990s and is still in use today as the only purpose-built Lutheran Church in Scotland.
