Scope and Content

The River Board was established under the River Boards Act, 1948, to replace the former Catchment and Fishery Boards, etc. by bringing them under one authority responsible for land drainage and sea defence, fisheries, pollution, conservation of water resources and control of navigation. This Board was replaced in 1965 by the new River Authority.
