Scope and Content

Volume contains a description of JS's childhood, family history, work as a Civil Engineer's pupil, his early business life. The volume includes descriptions of life in Hull, Sibree's home town, and other parts of Britain. JS worked for the Hull Board of Health from 1859-1863. Various press cuttings and sketches. Pamphlet: 'Family portraits', by Peter Sibree, 1832, with explanatory notes by JS (1889).
