The Overton and Ellesmere relief areas included parishes in Flintshire, which were originally part of the Great Boughton and Ellesmere Poor Law Unions. These parishes were under the control of the Flintshire County Council, Public Assistance Committee, following the Local Government Act 1929, and were formed into Public Assistance relief areas. They had a number of roles, including the provision of relief to the poor, payments to old-age pensioners and vaccinations.
Records of the Overton and Ellesmere relief areas, 1927-1948, including relief order book, 1931-1938; outdoor relief lists, 1947-1948; vaccination records, 1927-1948.
