-two letters from Spink, art dealers, dated 23 February & 27 February 1928, concerning a portrait of Edward Gibbon, lot 22 in the auction sale of 22 February 1928, which was catalogued as by Henry Walton but in their opinion is by Reynolds

-letter from L. Leger & Son, art dealers, dated 20 February 1928, concerning a portrait by Hoppner of the Countess of Sheffield, lot 21 in the auction sale of 22 February 1928, and asking Roberts's opinion of a portrait of the Countess of Sheffield in their possession

-photograph of a portrait of a lady, possibly the picture of the Countess of Sheffield in the possession of L. Leger & Son

-newspaper cutting concerning the discovery of a Gainsborough in the auction sale of pictures from the Earls of Sheffield collection held on 22 February 1928. The portrait of Dan Holroyd was catalogued as English School.

-newspaper cutting with an image of the portrait of Dan Holroyd attributed to Gainsborough.
