His temporary army commission and handwritten copy of A Padre with the Highland Division were originally kept together within a paper folder from Saint John's Church, Glasgow, where James MacMorland was minister from 1930-1963.

Administrative / Biographical History
James MacMorland joined the Royal Army Medical Corp (RAMC) in Aldershot, in June 1916. He was sent home from Salonika in August 1917 as he suffered from malaria. On recovery he was appointed Chaplain to the Forces with the 51st (Highland) Division in France and served there from 1917-1919.
