AGB has noted a reference to the Landport & Southsea Tranway in FB's publication "Forty years of Tramway Practice, 1883-1923". He enclosed a picture [not present] showing horse-drawn carriages and refers to the fact that the track was laid on the crown of the street. This AGB can verify, since he recalls his aunt, who lived on the side of the track, recounting how the poor horses used to fall and cart wheels fall off, due to the track being on the surface. AGB wonders if such practices have led to a certain amount of ill-will against tramways. Refers to dummy points in the ground in Broad Street, Portsmouth, from which curved rail leads to one of the earliest car sheds of the Portsmouth Tramways. Imagines that very few people know of their existence.
