Scope and Content

Fragment 1 (Or 6943 (1), Crum ST 96, SB Kopt.3 1395 TM 47746): a settlement of debt (release). The issuer of the text and creditor of the money is Paeion, the person paying back the debt is Kako, Patermoute`s (Patermouthis) wife. In the present text Paeion acknowledges to have received the full amount from Kako and that she no longer owes him anything. Petros is scribe and witness of the text and transaction. The text contains no date. Fragments 2-5 (Or 6943 (2)-(5), Crum ST 181, TM 47741): A letter to Patermoute and his family concerning a dispute. The name of the sender is not preserved. From the text remains it can be read that a woman called Tsia is opposing someone or something. The text also refers to the living-room (symposion) of Tlou, Kako`s grandmother, but it is not clear who is in possession of it. Fragment 11 (BASP 32, Nr.3; SB Kopt.3 1666; TM 47747): Very little of the text can be deciphered due to the poor preservation of the fragment. The contents cannot be determined. 11 might have formed one piece with Fragment 12, which makes sense on its own, so the relationship of the two texts is unclear. Fragment 12 (Or 6943 (12), BASP 32, Nr.2, SB Kopt.3 1394, TM 47743): Document concerning a debt owed to Patermoute. There are no signatories or witnesses. The piece possibly belonged together with Fragment 11, but since the present piece makes sense on its own, the relationship between the two texts is unclear.
