These guns were used as coast defence guns as, according to the donor, after the retreat from Dunkirk they were the only ones available. This photograph shows getting ready to load the gun. The shells weighed about 80 lbs and had to be picked up manually. The donor, John Crewdsen, is carrying the middle shell ready to put it in the breach.
