An individual 12 lb gun for engaging small close boats

JC notes that there was only one of these and that he did fire it once or twice. It had 'the most awful sharp ear-splitting crack of all the guns'; apparently the larger guns generally made a rumbling sound rather than a crack. JC believes that this gun was not used in training courses, probably due to lack of sufficient ammunition
