Statutory committee appointed under the Small Holdings Act, 1892 (55 & 56 Vict. c. 31) which enabled the County Council upon petition to acquire by purchase or lease land for small holdings (defined in the Act as 1-50 acres or with an annual value for income tax purposes of no more than £50) and with powers to make improvements and to sell or let the land for agricultural purposes. The Committee was replaced by the Small Holdings and Allotments Committee in 1907 (see CC1/14)
