Scope and Content

Miscellaneous bundles of papers relating to the 'Countess of Rothes', 1876-1897. Includes printed formal papers relating to the ship 'Countess of Rothes', 1876-1889 with printed indentures of apprentices with Messrs James Allison & Sons, in favour of William Stewart Abbot, Abraham Clegg, John Farringdon, Henry Watt Fleming, Peter Milne, Frederick James Salisbury, Alexander Morrison Scott; Correspondence to James Allison & Sons from Capt. A. Edwards and Capt. D. Jackson, [successive] masters of the 'Countess of Rothes' with accounts relating to matters such as state of cargo, repairs, supplies, sailing times etc., on voyages from British ports to Rotterdam, Buenos Aires, Pisagua, Antwerp, Rio de Janeiro and Cape Town, 1891-1896; balance sheets of the ship 'Countess of Rothes', for period 1879-1896; and memorandum of agreement between the owners of the barque 'Countess of Rothes' of Dundee and James Allison & Sons, Shipowners Dundee, 1878; Charter parties of the ship 'Countess of Rothes', 1878-1897, and graph of the displacement scale of the barque 'Countess of Rothes', Birrell, Stenhouse & Co., Shipbuilders, Dumbarton, 1877.
