Clephan was a member of the School of Art Committee from 1882-1897 and President from 1893-1897. He then sat as a member of the Municipal Technical and Art Schools Committee until 1905. His daughter, Annie Clephan, continued this association with the Schools as a member of the Committee from 1903-1908.
