Autograph letter, signed, from James L. Halliday to his wife Beryl. Hotel New Weston, Madison Avenue at 50th Street, New York, Sunday, 23rd March [1947].
Invited to cocktail party by Sir J.B. Orr on last night aboard [Queen Elizabeth]. Met Lord Haden, John Grierson, Sir Arthur Robinson and other very interesting people. Went to sun deck to see Statue of Liberty and towers of New York. Room on 16th floor of hotel. Invited by Gregg's assistant Lambert to lunch at Foundation in Rockefeller Building. Ran into John Marshall. Dinner at New York Academy of Medicine. Met English psychiatrist met at Tavistock. On Saturday planned itinerary with Lambert. Walk round New York in afternoon with Wray. Went by train to Riverdale for dinner with H.J. Wolff. Awoke too late to go to Pesbyterian Church with Stirling. Lunch at Mrs Gimbal's and met John Grierson. Moved to cheaper room.
