COPY of hand-written descriptions on the reverse side of copy photographs enclosed with Iris D. Back’s second letter.

On the reverse of the copy photo of the archaeological dig:

“Site of the dig for Roman ruins 1983, also site of old Priory Foundry, run by Thomas Jones from 1860 and his two sons John (Jack) and Ben ¹. The brother of T. Jones (known to the family as “Nuncul”) took part in the old Rebecca riots over toll gates etc.”

On the reverse of the copy photo of the front door to 110 Priory Street:

“Site (perhaps remains) of house where Mr & Mrs T. Jones brought up their nine children including heirs “Jack a Mab” and Ben¹, and another son and six daughters². Among the daughters, my grandmother and a twin sister lived, in their widowhood, together with the twins’ daughter until almost their 80th birthday in Neyland.”

² David Jones (1845-1864), Rachel Evans née Jones (1841-1909), Esther Richards née Jones (1842-1919), Mary Rees née Jones (1850-?), Harriet Williams née Jones (1852-1932) and Ann Morgan née Jones (1852-1935) Twins (?) died in infancy.
