Recorded interviews with residents of Abercraf covering subjects such as life working in the collieries, the village's Spanish community, strikes, the effect of pit closure on the village, local trade union activity and leadership, religion, women working in the tin-works. The study also includes interviews with local miners' leaders such as Jim Evans. The recordings were made in 1972-1974 but cover the period 1898-1974 in subject matter.

Administrative / Biographical History
The Abercraf Community Study was carried out in order to gain insights into the everyday life and concerns of a South Wales mining community. Abercraf was chosen as a subject for the project as it was an example of a relatively 'prosperous' Welsh mining community.
