Records of Caerwys parish, 1674-1984, including registers, 1674-1984; service registers, 1897-1967; Parochial Church Council minutes, 1920-1942; churchwarden's and overseer's accounts, 1674-1958; records of church affairs, 1920-1923; school records, 1874-1917; tithe records, 1849-1933; terriers, 1758-1856; records of charities, 1721-1853; enclosure records, 1809-1850; and miscellaneous, 1797-1961.

Administrative / Biographical History

The county of Flintshire falls within the Diocese of St Asaph and consists of over fifty ecclesiastical parishes, including Caewys. The records of individual ecclesiastical parishes in Flintshire include registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, as well as records of the churchwardens and Parochial Church Councils, parish charities, schools, clubs and societies. Parish records were deposited at the Clwyd Record Office, following an agreement of 1976 between the Church in Wales and the Welsh County Councils.

Arrangement

Arranged into six groups, by deposit: Group One, incumbent records, Parochial Church Council, churchwardens, overseers, school, tithe and miscellaneous; Group Two, incumbent records, charities and enclosure; Group Three, incumbent records, churchwardens and church affairs; Group Four, Surveyor of Roads and Overseer of the Poor records; Group Five, Overseer's accounts; and Group Six, Overseer's accounts.
