1. Ignatius Purcell of Crumlin, co. Dublin, Esq.
2. John Philpot of the Temple, London, gent., and David Jones of London, mercer.
3. John Madocks of Lincoln's Inn, Esq.
Release and Mortgage of the capital messuage of Pentre Mawr and other messuages and lands in Llandyrnog and Eglwys-bach; consideration, £1600; provision for redemption on 28 April, 1774. Recites terms of the will of the late John Evans of Whistones, co. Worcester. John Evans died 1743 leaving Rebecca his wife and two daughters, Rebecca Barry and Mary Evans. Rebecca Barry died 1754 leaving two daughters Mary Anne, formerly wife of Francis Barry and now wife of Ignatius Purcell, and Jane, wife of Francis Heny. When Rebecca Evans died 1767, mary Anne inherited her estates in Llandyrnog and Eglwysfach. Jane and Francis Heny, contested her right to the whole of the estate under the will of her grandfather John Evans, and exhibited a bill in the Court of Chancery claiming a half share of the estate. A decree if that court, however, awarded the whole estate to Mary Anne (see PM/69).
