Scope and Content

From Roger Seward at Wareham to [William Seward]. He received William’s kind letter with joy and thankfulness. Spiritual matters are discussed with particular regard to Roger’s gratitude for the goodness of God. 'I know and am well assured, he never will deny his free grace and mercy to all those who diligently ask and seek after it ...It is our indispensable duty to die to sin that we might rise again to life eternal...' Spiritual matters are further discussed in detail.

William asked concerning the state of Roger’s heart. He wishes that he could open it to William. 'I do assure you and am very thankful to God for it, that notwithstanding the many persecutions I have gone through, my heart is free from all rancour and malice.' Spiritual matters are further discussed.
