Letters, mostly autograph, containing biographies or autobiographies of musicians, addressed to John D. Sainsbury in 1823-24 when he was editing his dictionary of musicians (1824).
In June 1955, shortly before Archibald M. Henderson removed his collection of musicians' autographs from Glasgow University Library, the following autograph letters, which had belonged to this Sainsbury Collection originally, were included in the Henderson Collection: Attwood, Ayrton, Barnett, Thomas Bennett, Braham, Crotch, Cramer, Dragonetti, Greatorex, Hawes, Charles E. Horn, Shield. The subsequent location of these letters is unknown.
