Possibly the most significant event of 1924 was Wood's meeting with Jean Cocteau in November, whose admiration of Wood's work was a source of great encouragement, although he also encouraged Wood in his opium habit. Wood also travelled to Spain with Tony Gandarillas. Letters written from: Paris, Nice, Rome, Florence, Chelsea, Var (France), Barcelona, Madrid, Grenada, Canedel, Villefranch-sur-Mer, (France), Aix-en-Provence, Villefranche and Avignon.
